Game 65: Tigers vs. Cards

Well, lets try this again. Edwin Jackson (6-3) 2.24 ERA) vs. Todd Wellemeyer (5-6, 5.50). Mismatch? You bet ya. Wellemeyer has been the Cards worst starting pitcher. Jackson is pitching like an all star and one of top 10 starting pitchers in the game. But, we haven't scored more than 3 runs in the last 6 games, and we appear to be in a little bit of a tailspin. 7-8 innings of near-shutout ball from Jackson and a breakout performance from our offense against this below average pitcher would be just grand, thank you.

Lineups for tonight.

NO. DETROIT ST. LOUIS
1. C. Granderson, CF S. Schumaker, 2B
2. P. Polanco, 2B C. Rasmus, CF
3. M. Cabrera, 1B A. Pujols, 1B
4. M. Thames, LF C. Duncan, LF
5. M. Ordonez, RF R. Ludwick, RF
6. B. Inge, 3B Y. Molina, C
7. G. Laird, C J. Thurston, 3B
8. A. Everett, SS T. Wellemeyer, P
9. E. Jackson, P T. Greene, SS

-Nice to see Grandy back in the leadoff spot. He is our best bet there. And, I like putting Cabrera in the 3 spot. All in all, I am pleased with this line-up we are throwing out there tonight. Having Thames and Ordonez in the same outfield is asking for trouble. But, we do need the potential offense/power Thames will provide, so I think this is a good move by Leyland.
