Lynn Henning breaks down the Tigers prospects

Here is Henning's take

According to Tigs Town, Sizemore was called up yesterday to AAA Toledo. As of today, it would appear that he would be the internal candidate to replace Polanco if he does not re-sign with the team in the off-season, and this may be a way to get a better look at him to see if he can handle some increased pressure and responsibility in Toledo. Sizemore will not bring the glove that Polanco has (he currently has the highest second baseman UZR rating in all of baseball and should be a candidate for a gold glove), but he could bring more pop to the line-up. Polanco currently has his lowest OBP, SLG, OPS, and wOBA since either his first or second season in the big leagues, and is having his worst offensive season since he has joined the Tigers. I'm not advocating for the Tigers to let Polanco walk in the off-season. At least, not yet. Let's see how Sizemore performs in AAA and let's see how Polanco finishes this season. It is still too early to evaluate his play.

Other prospects of note: Fu-Te Ni would be a potential LOOGY candidate if a bullpen spot opened up. As addressed last night, if Willis is taken off the active roster and Miner takes his spot in the rotation, that would open up a bullpen spot. Ni could be considered for that 1-inning specialist role and has earned it with his recent play in Toledo. However, with Seay and Robertson already pitching out of the bullpen, Dave Dombrowski may not wish to have 3 lefties in his 'pen. If that is the case, then Simons might be the one to get the call. He has also more than earned with his recent play in Erie.
