Until then, here are some quick thoughts of mine...
- Where would the Tigers be this year without Edwin Jackson? Dombrowski gets busted on a lot for going crazy on several contract extensions and the trading of Jair Jurrejens for Edgar Renteria. And, he should not be above that criticism. But, kudos to the trade of the baseball season, so far. Without Jackson, the Tigers are in 3rd place in the division and closer to the Indians and Royals than the Twins and White Sox. What a deal it has been so far.
- With Brandon Bass off the market, I guess Joe D. might make a run at Glenn Davis. He would be an upgrade over Maxiell but with both on the roster, doesn't that just make Maxiell a redundant player. They are both (can I say it) overweight frontcourt players who are best served as guys coming off the bench. If Davis truly the target of Joe D. then I have to think that Max and Kwame deal for Tyson Chandler is being discussed.
- Maybe the Jiri Hudler negotiations are not dead afterall? It will be interesting to see how this plays out but if Hudler does not want to play for us and would rather play for the money in Russia, I'm not sure I would want to force him to play on the Wings next season. That has trouble written all over it, if you ask me.
- There has been a lot of concern about Inge in the HR derby. I too am concerned that it may hurt his swing. But, how many people thought Inge would be an All Star? He has almost been traded from the Tigers when Pudge signed with us and when Cabrera was brought over here. And yet, here he is. One of the top 5 3B in the game this season. Will he keep it up. Maybe not. But, I say let him enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime player who was converted to a utility player twice in his Tigers career. Truly one of the most surprising deserving All Stars in the last 10 years. No lie.
- Training camp is less than a month away and the Big Ten Media Luncheon is at the end of July. Mmmm. Football is about to be in the air and I cannot wait.
